Our Favourite Sources of Plant-Based Iron
Everyone knows that iron is an essential mineral for our growth, health and wellbeing. The body needs iron for energy levels, blood production health, physical health and mental health. Put simply, the body needs iron to function and thrive. Among many other vegan myths, there is a common misconception that Vegans and those adopting a plant-based lifestyle don’t get enough iron in their diets, and therefore a vegan or plant-based lifestyle is not a suitable choice. Well, we’re here to prove this argument wrong! The fact is that there are so many great sources of iron that are available to those avoiding, or trying to avoid eating meat and animal products.
Food Allergy Week
Food Allergy Week is an initiative by Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia. Food Allergy week aims to raise awareness of severe food allergies and the impact allergies can have on everyday life. 1 in 3 Australians will experience an allergic reaction to food in their lifetime. Australia has one of the highest rates of allergies in the world overall. According to a study by the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Australia also has the highest published rates of food allergies in children. In fact, one in ten infants will be born with a food allergy. While many children grow out of their allergies, many also suffer from lifelong allergies.
World Bee Day
World Bee Day exists to spread awareness of bees and other pollinating species. We so often see bees as a nuisance, but this day is a reason to stop and think about these helpful creatures. World Bee day brings together professionals such as beekeepers and nature conservationalists with the general public to discuss and appreciate the significance of all bee species as well as encouraging actions that create more bee friendly landscapes.

Compost Awareness Week
The first week of May is Compost Awareness Week. It’s a week to advocate for composting and promote awareness of the importance of compost for us, the animals and our environment. Every year, over half of our household rubbish is made up of food and garden waste. You’d be surprised to know just how much of this waste can be recycled to the earth by composting and all the good it brings to the planet!
